What is pool cage rescreening?

Pool cage rescreening means removing the old, worn mesh and spline from your enclosure and installing new screen on the frame you already have. The aluminum stays. Only the screen is replaced. It costs far less than a new enclosure and is usually done in a day.

If only one or two panels are torn, you may just need a pool screen repair. If the frame, doors or hardware are failing too, look at pool cage restoration.

Signs your pool cage needs new screens

  • Screens look faded, chalky or grey
  • Mesh feels brittle and tears when you touch it
  • Spline is pulling out and panels are sagging
  • New tears keep showing up after you patch old ones
  • Bugs, leaves and debris are getting into the pool
  • Storm damage across several panels

One or two of these on a few panels usually means a repair. Most of the cage showing them usually means a full rescreen. We'll tell you which on the visit.

Choosing your screen mesh

MeshWhat it's for
Standard pool and patio meshEveryday screen for most cages. Good airflow and visibility
No-see-um mesh (20×20)A tighter weave that keeps out tiny biting insects near water
PetScreenHeavy-duty, vinyl-coated mesh for dogs and cats that claw or push through screens

Many homeowners use standard mesh on the roof and PetScreen on the lower panels where pets reach. Compare them in our screen mesh guide or learn more about PetScreen for pool cages. Mesh specs come from the manufacturer, Phifer.

What's included in every rescreen

  1. Free quote and measurement. We visit, measure the cage and give you a clear price before any work starts.
  2. Protecting your property. We cover the deck, furniture, landscaping and pool before we start.
  3. Out with the old. Old mesh and spline come off and get bagged and hauled away.
  4. New screen installed. The mesh you picked goes in tight, with new spline.
  5. Doors and final walkthrough. We check that doors close and latch, clean up, then walk the enclosure with you.

Need a door fixed at the same time? We handle pool cage screen doors on the same visit.

How much does pool cage rescreening cost?

The price depends on:

  • Size and height of the cage (number of panels and roof area)
  • Which mesh you choose
  • Whether it's the whole cage or only walls or only roof
  • Door, hardware or spline repairs found during the visit

Your estimate is free and shows the full price up front. No surprise upcharges.

Pool cage rescreening FAQs

How long does a rescreen take?

Most full residential rescreens are done in one day. Large or two-story cages can take longer, and we'll tell you the timeline with your quote.

Can you rescreen just the walls or just the roof?

Yes. If only part of the cage is worn, we can quote just that part.

Do I need a permit to rescreen?

Permit rules vary by city and by the type of work. Permit information for unincorporated Pinellas is at pinellas.gov/residential-permits.

Do you clean up?

Yes. We protect the deck before we start, bag and haul away the old screen, and leave the area clean.

Can you match my HOA's screen requirements?

Yes. Tell us the HOA's rules at the quote and we'll quote the mesh and color they allow.
