Ryan owner of Rescreening 4 Less did an excellent job and use quality products. He rescreened our lanai so we are able to enjoy our view of Cliff Steven's Park without any mosquitoes. They use to be able to get in but Ryan to care of keeping them out. Thank You Ryan

What is the difference between repair, rescreen, restoration, and replacement?

  • Panel repair: fix one or a few torn bays.
  • Full rescreen: replace mesh and spline across the enclosure when most screening is worn out.
  • Restoration: rescreen plus fasteners, doors, and frame prep (often with paint) when the structure is still sound but tired.
  • Replacement: new structure when posts are bent, welds failed, or the cage is off the slab.

When is a panel repair enough?

One torn bay after a limb, dog, or single storm panel. Panel repair is right when the rest of the mesh is OK, and wrong when the rest of the mesh is chalked and brittle.

When do you need a full rescreen?

Most panels are gray or brittle, spline is crawling out, or tears return after every wind event. If the frame is still square, a full rescreen is usually the answer. A frame can still be chalky — that is still a rescreen unless hardware or paint is failing too. Pool cage rescreening.

When is restoration the right call?

Choose restoration when screens need replacement plus orange streaks under screws, doors that will not latch, failing kickplates, or chalky aluminum that needs coating. Restoration treats the layers in order. See pool lanai restoration and pool cage repainting.

When should you replace the cage?

Buckled posts, failed welds, or an enclosure that no longer sits on the slab are replacement warning signs. Restoration will not make a compromised skeleton safe. A rebuild commonly runs much higher than restoring a sound frame.

Decision table

If the enclosure is…Do this
One or a few torn bays; rest of mesh OKPanel repair

FAQs

Can you tell me which option I need from photos?

Often yes. Send photos of the whole cage, close-ups of tears, screws, and doors. We confirm on-site before any work.

Is restoration cheaper than replacement?

Usually, when the frame is still square. A full rebuild commonly runs far higher. You get a number after we measure.

Do I need a permit?

Like-for-like rescreening is often simpler than a new structure. Cities in Pinellas and Hillsborough do not all treat paint the same way — we discuss this at the estimate.

Should I paint when I rescreen?

Only if the aluminum is chalky or faded. Paint goes on the bare frame with screens off.
